High school basketball team celebrates state title before losing on last-second shot

The Burrillville (R.I.) High School basketball team both literally and figuratively threw away a state title in one of the craziest conclusions to a game you will ever see.

Protecting a one-point lead, the Broncos stole the inbound pass, which should have iced the game. The Burrillville player tossed the ball backward into the air in an effort to drain the clock. The clock read zero. And the team stormed the court to celebrate the win. But then the refs added time on the clock. Just enough time for Chariho to pull out the win thanks to this nifty pass:

That’s a tough way to lose a game, but it’s not the worst I’ve ever seen. That honor goes to Kansas State’s Pervis Pasco, who made one of the most absent-minded mistakes in the history of college basketball at the 2003 Big XII Tournament:
